Why Do You Have Excessive Dry Skin

Perhaps the most common skin problem most people experience these days is dry skin condition. The level of dryness people experience depends on the real cause of the problem.
Top Causes Of Excessively Dry Skin
1. Hormonal imbalance - Women often suffer from hormonal imbalance especially during that time of the month. Hormones have specific roles in our body. When the hormones tasked to lubricate skin tissues and cells are not produced properly by our other vital organs, our skin turns dry and damaged.
2. Extreme weathers - Most people experience dermis dryness during winter season. That is because the cold weather is slowing down the flow of fluid to the skin tissues. Moreover, the frigid weather strips away the essential moisture and lipids in skin tissues.
3. Insufficient water intake - It is common knowledge that drinking water is imperative in keeping the dermis moist and supple. If your water intake is not enough, your skin will definitely suffer.
4. Dwindling amount of hyaluronic acid - This acid is inherent in our integumentary system. It is responsible for the lubrication of collagen proteins. Certain enzymes in the body attack this acid and break it down. As a result, collagen fibers are not lubricated properly.
How Can You Fight Excessively Dry Skin?
Improving your inner health is one way of preventing and fighting this dermis problem. Make sure you increase your intake of fruits and vegetables as they are rich in vitamins and minerals that can harness dermis functions. They are also rich in water that can keep your body replenished. Drink lots of water daily to flush out harmful toxins.
Make sure you use a good hydrating product. Choose a moisturizing cream loaded with Phytessence Wakame and Manuka Honey. Phytessence Wakame is a type of Japanese sea kelp capable of preventing the decline of hyaluronic acid. It preserves healthy levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin.
Manuka honey has humectant properties. It can mimic the moisture-retaining functions of the skin. As a result, it works for any skin type. It can keep your dermis hydrated for a longer period of time.
It also does not hurt to pamper your skin. Try using hydrating masks twice a week. Soak in a warm bubble bath infused in essential oils. Your skin will surely remain soft and supple.
Now that you know the main causes of dry skin condition, you should have no trouble preventing it from happening. Look for a natural moisturizer that can lock moisture in skin cells and tissues.
And now I would like to invite you to visit http://www.goodhealthyskin.com to find out which are the anti aging products you should use in order to achieve clearer and radiant looking skin.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF BELLY DANCING

Read below Robin's story and see if that motivates you!
HEALTH BENEFITS OF BELLY DANCING
If you would have told me a year ago that I would be performing on stage this week, I would have said, “Will I learn to juggle?” I never in a million years would have believed that I would be getting up in front of people to …… belly dance.
Please don’t picture me in tight clothes and wrapped around a pole. Trust me – you don’t want to do that.  Banish the sexy images from your mind. Instead, think of your grandmother and your daughter dancing together and waving brightly colored veils around. There. You have the picture.
I originally took up belly dancing on a dare. I had a back injury, and was in quite a bit of pain, and my friend said that learning to move my hips in an agile manner would help.
She was right. Belly dancing has strengthened my core muscles and has alleviated much of my back pain. My hip drops, figure eights, circles, and shimmies have utilized muscles that my back didn’t even know it had.
BELLY DANCING IS GOOD FOR ENTIRE BODY:
But belly dancing is not limited to back muscles. After my first class, I felt like I’d bench-pressed a Peterbilt. The veil work has done wonders for my arms and shoulders. I didn’t realize I was using my arms that much, until the next morning.
And belly dancing is a weight-bearing exercise, so it’s even good for your bones. It also improves flexibility of your entire body, not just your belly! It is also believed to massage your internal organs and to help with digestion. (I know, I’m starting to make it sound like the miracle dance. Maybe it is?)
BELLY DANCING HELPS IN WEIGHT LOSS:
Speaking of miracles, I’ve also lost weight since I started belly dancing. I’ve read that belly dancing can burn up to 300 calories per hour, but I am almost certain that I am burning more than that! I’ve checked my pulse, and believe me, this is cardiovascular exercise from the get-go! My dance teacher instructed us to practice for at least an hour at least six days a week. I thought she was nuts, but now, if I skip a day, I really miss it.
BELLY DANCING IS A STRESS BUSTER:
Belly dancing is an excellent way to burn off some stress. Just getting in touch with my femininity, the roots which make me strong, helps me to have a healthier self-esteem, even when no one is watching, even when I can’t do the snake arms correctly. Mentally, I just feel better. (Plus, I get to wear crazy costumes that I wouldn’t be able to in real life.)
And if I can do it, anyone can. I was too busy, too uncoordinated, too heavy, and too unwilling, and yet here I am, ready to step out on stage in a few days. I’ve belly danced with petite elderly women and angry teenagers. I’ve belly danced with hippies and republicans. This is something that all women can do. I’ve even belly danced with my son. (He’s only one – never tell him!)
HOW ABOUT SHARING YOUR STORY?
So, will you share your story with me? Have you ever tried belly dancing? If not, have I convinced you?

Herbs For Hair Growth - Stop Hair Loss Naturally

Many people are looking into using herbs for hair growth as they seek natural remedies to treat hair loss. These treatments help the body's self healing functions to work towards reversing the cause of an ailment rather than just masking the symptoms. Some herbs have been very effective in helping people stimulate their strands to grow back.
Ginkgo Biloba
One of the most effective herbs for hair growth is ginkgo biloba. This herb helps to increase circulation and blood flow to the scalp, a function which stimulates the strands to grow. The blood transports nourishment to the strands, so increasing the blood flow helps to ensure the strands are getting enough nutrition in order to remain healthy.
Green Tea
Green tea is also on the list of herbs for hair growth. It contains catechins which block the enzyme known as 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme turns testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone which forces the strands to fall out by attacking the follicles. Medical experts believe DHT causes male pattern baldness which is also known as androgenic alopecia. This condition affects both women and men.
Saw Palmetto
Saw palmetto is another one of the herbs for hair growth which targets male or female pattern baldness. It curbs the production of DHT. This allows the damaged follicles to grow hair again.
Stinging Nettle
Stinging nettle prevents testosterone from being converted into DHT. It can be used in combination with other herbs for hair growth. It works well when it is used with saw palmetto and pygeum. Pygeum also helps slow down male pattern baldness.
Things to Keep in Mind About Herbs for Hair Growth
If you are using herb to reverse hair loss, it is important to understand that it can take a while for them to produce noticeable results. It usually takes six months to one year for the strands to start thickening.
It is very important for you to begin treatment for your hair loss as soon as you notice that your strands are thinning. This will significantly increase your chances of getting your strands to grow back. If the follicles sit there for too long without strands, the follicles will lose their ability to function and the hair loss will become permanent.

SKIN CARE: Get Healthy and Glowing Skin

Who does not want to achieve an acne freeglowing andhealthy skin? Here are someskin care tips to achievehealthy skinSKIN CARE: ACNE FREE, GLOWING AND HEALTHY SKIN
Just put on a neat white shirt in the morning before you set off for work. Check its brightness in the evening when you return home. You‘d certainly note the difference, dusts, smokes, mites and what may not be there. Keep it up for next two three days more and you would hardly be able to recognize if it is that 3 days old shirt. This is what happens with your skin. The fact is, your skin is much more delicate, soft and tender to get weathered, wrinkled, blemished, burned and what not. A bit of caring advice – make skin care a part of your health and fitness regime. If you do not care a bit about your skin’s health, leave it as it is and see yourself growing twice your age in the mirror. If the fact really scares you, keep reading for solution:
Basically there are three steps to get a healthy and glowing skin -
  • Skin Cleansers: You need to clear skin of dirt and oil that have deposited deep into its pores but not the way you rinse it out of your shirt. Cleaning your skin properly prepares it to absorb and respond to succeeding skin care methods in a better way. Generally people perform a manual skin clean and think the job to be over, which it is not in fact. You can not clean your skin properly by hands, use skin care brushes. These brushes are technically designed to clear skin deeply but gently. They expel dirt and debris out from your skin without much effort.
  • Skin Toners: What does a skin toner does? And why do you need it at all? A good facial toner further clears your skin from the point where your skin cleanser has left it. Means, it cleanse it more deeply. But this is not what a toner is for. Then what? When you wash or clean your skin with cleansers, brushes or some other substances, the pores get wider than normal and raise a risk of depositing more dust and dirt if not repaired. This is what a skin toner does. It shrinks and restores your skin pores to their normal size.
  • Precaution: You need to be cautious before you adopt a skin toner. Make sure that it does not contain any form of alcohol in it or it may irritate and dry up your skin.
  • Skin Moisturizers: Our skin has a natural moisturizer that helps it stay soft and shining. Some, those who have a dry skin, may not experience this on their skin, though. If you have passed through both the above steps chances are that your skin’s natural moisturizer has worn away in the process. You need a good moisturizer to regain that softness on your skin that has dried away during the process. It is simple to use and wondrous in effects. It also clears all oil-based types that might cause breakouts.
Rejoice! You have learnt the secret of achieving healthy and glowing skin in as easy as 1-2-3. Just perform these skin care methods on regular basis and defy your age. Always try to procure good quality skin care products to avoid any unwanted injury or side effect on your skin. True! They are a bit costlier than ordinary cosmetic products but they are worth it.
So make it a habit to care for your skin as you would do for any other part of your body, even better if you do it religiously under your daily health and fitness regime and don’t be surprised if you get a WOW!! or a compliment for your glowing skin when you step out of your house the next time. Never forget to pat yourself for this, for this is the result of your skin care efforts.

Health & Nutrition

What are nutrients?
Every molecule in the body is created by Nutrients & there are more than 45 nutrients. These nutrients build molecules, cells, and tissues of the body.We get energy from Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats that we eat.
These are called macronutrients. These macro nutrients are broken down / metabolized to give energy to the body.
Vitamins and minerals (called micronutrients) are not themselves metabolized for energy, but they are important in helping the macronutrients convert to energy.
What is a healthy diet?
The optimal diet has to be individualized to meet your unique needs. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) food pyramid suggests that we use fat "sparingly," and that our daily diet include 2 - 3 servings of dairy products; 2 - 3 servings of meat, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, or nuts; 3 - 5 servings of vegetables; 2 - 4 servings of fruit; and 6 - 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice, or pasta.
These are general guidelines. Healthy diet is dependent upon many factors like: age, gender, body size, pregnancy, and status of health. A clinical nutritionist or nutritionally oriented doctor can help you determine what type of diet is best for you.
While you know it is important to eat a healthy diet, it isn't always easy to sort through all of the information available about nutrition and food choices.
Nutrition has a vital importance to human well-being. Nutrition should play a leading role to improve our quality of life. Nutrition is a key for reducing your body fat percentage.
Better nutrition means stronger immune systems, less illness and better health. Better nutrition is a prime entry point to ending poverty and a milestone to achieving better quality of life. Safe food and good nutrition are important to all.
Basic nutrition knowledge is constantly taking shape every day, producing new diet trends to an ever growing audience of people who want to know the latest and greatest ways to achieve their physical fitness goals.
Get nutrition facts and discover how you can use dietary recommendations to improve your health. As you grow older, getting a nutritionally rich diet becomes even more important. The link between nutrition and health is necessary to achieve optimal health.
Good nutrition is a clear path to optimize our quality of life. An important starting point for achieving optimum health is to achieve optimum nutrition and get the proper nutrients from the food.
Diet and nutrition are the principle preventive measures against diseases.
Reading labels and eating a diet rich in vitamins and nutrients is optimal for healthy nutrition. Research confirms that good nutrition in the early years of life is crucial for human growth and mental development.
The study of human nutrition dates back to the 18th century, when the French chemist Lavoisier discovered that there was a relationship between our metabolism of food and the process of breathing.
The field of clinical nutrition has evolved into a practice that is increasingly incorporated into mainstream medical treatment. The term "nutritional supplement" refers to vitamins, minerals, and other food components that are used to support good health and treat illness.
A clinical nutritionist or nutritionally oriented doctor can help you determine what type of diet is best for you.
During the initial part of the visit, the clinical nutritionist will ask you questions about your medical history, family history, and personal lifestyle.
In hospitals, nutrition is used to improve the overall health of patients with a wide range of conditions. Effects of exercise and nutrition on postural balance and risk of falling in elderly people with decreased bone mineral density: randomized controlled trial pilot study.
Healthy Lifestyle
Healthy people are stronger, are more productive and more able to create opportunities to gradually break the cycles of both poverty and hunger in a sustainable way.
Healthy eating is associated with reduced risk for many diseases, including the three leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, and stroke. Healthy eating is fundamental to good health and is a key element in healthy human development, from the prenatal and early childhood years to later life stages.
Healthy eating is equally important in reducing the risk of many chronic diseases. We spend a lot of money on food, but there are ways to cut costs and still serve healthy delicious meals.
When you choose healthy foods instead of sugary or high-fat foods you can actually improve your health by adding extra phytochemicals and fiber. Breakfast foods should be healthy but they have a tendency to be high in fats and sugar.
We always hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why ruin a healthy breakfast.
Good nutrition is vital to good health, disease prevention, and essential for healthy growth and development of children and adolescents. Fiber is an important part of a healthy diet.
Many of us work very hard to eat healthy meals, but struggle with the urge for candy, cookies, cakes, ice cream and anything else full of sugar and sweetness. Most experts agree that snacking is a part of a balanced and healthy diet, as long as the snacks don't pile on empty calories.
When your best efforts go awry, and you order pizza or serve another meal that doesn't exactly fit into a healthy diet, you still have many options for making it healthier. Just about everyone knows that fruits and vegetables are a very important part of a healthy diet.
Having a well-stocked pantry and refrigerator can be a busy cook's best weapon in the war against resorting to fast-food, high-fat, unhealthy meals. Fresh oil is a source of essential fatty acids, which help keep the skin healthy and the hair shiny.
We believe eating sensibly, combined with appropriate exercise, is the best solution for a healthy lifestyle.
Foods
When you choose healthy foods instead of sugary or high-fat foods you can actually improve your health by adding extra phytochemicals and fiber. The goal is to balance negative foods with positive foods so that the combined rating for all foods eaten in a single day is positive.
If you want to restrict your caloric intake without feeling hungry, find foods highest in any vitamin or mineral or lowest in carbs, saturated fats, or sugars. Our general state of health is partially driven by the types of foods we consume.
To make vegetable oils suitable for deep frying, the oils are hydrogenated, so trans fats are commonly found in deep-fried foods such as French fries and doughnuts. Trans fats, beyond a limit, are not good for our health.
Hydrogenation solidifies liquid oils and increases the shelf life and the flavor stability of oils and foods that contain them. Other sources of trans fats are vegetable shortenings, some margarines, crackers, cookies, snack foods, and other foods.
Since trans fats increase a products shelf life, many pre-prepared foods and mixes (for example, some pancake mixes and pizza dough) contain trans fats.
The solution: Whenever possible, eat whole, fresh, and unprocessed foods. When buying packaged foods, put in at least as much time into reading labels and selecting products as you do when choosing a shower gel or shampoo.
A good diet is central to overall good health, but which are the best foods to include in your meals, and which ones are best avoided.
Fast food has become much more popular of late and all over the world the outcry regarding harms of fast foods is on increase.
Be aware that there is little scientific information about the effect of so-called functional foods --foods to which vitamins, minerals, herbs, or other dietary substances are added -- despite their growing popularity in the market place and claims of beneficial effects.
Some common foods, including nuts, wheat gluten, dairy products, fish, shrimp, soy, bananas and eggs may trigger allergic reactions.
Fat
Fats add taste to meals and give one a feeling of fullness when eaten. When you choose healthy foods instead of sugary or high-fat foods you can actually improve your health by adding extra phytochemicals and fiber.
Breakfast foods should be healthy but they have a tendency to be high in fats and sugar. The human brain is almost entirely composed of unsaturated fatty acids.
You deprive yourself of more than fats when you go for the fat-free or low-fat salad dressing. We need fats to absorb all the beneficial elements of salads and other fruits and vegetables. Learn which are the right types of fats, to create beautiful, supple skin, and a healthy body.
Eating more whole foods is a good way to replace many of the processed snacks and foods that have a lot of extra sugar, fat (including trans fat), salt, and other things added to them and a lot of good things taken out, like fiber. In addition to food labeled fat-free and low fat, healthy low fat foods include most fruits and vegetables.
Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats (called macronutrients) are broken down (metabolized) to give the body energy.
For example, lowering fat and cholesterol intake and adding whole grains to the diet can prevent atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries), which can lead to heart disease or stroke.
Fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential components of cells and can protect the heart from, for example, fatal arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm). Omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish (such as herring, tuna, and salmon) have been reported to reduce inflammation and help prevent certain chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis.
Safe food and good nutrition are important to all. Basic nutrition knowledge is constantly taking shape every day, producing new diet trends to an ever growing audience of people who want to know the latest and greatest ways to achieve their physical fitness goals.
Did you know that you can drastically decrease your chance of heart disease and cancer by eating a healthy diet and following the recommended nutrition guidelines?
Proper nutrition is a powerful good: people who are well nourished are more likely to be healthy, productive and able to learn.
Good nutrition benefits families, their communities and the world as a whole. Malnutrition is, by the same logic, devastating.

SLEEP WELL, SLEEP PEACEFULLY – BE HEALTHY AND FIT

A good and peaceful sleep at night is as necessary for your health and fitness as eating a well balanced diet and indulging in a regularhealth and fitness regime. Getting the right amount of sleep is very important for your overallhealth and fitness. If you are having trouble insleeping well and getting a peaceful night’s sleep, it’s time to see for the remedy, try to find out the cause and make the necessary changes required to sleep well and peacefully at night, for if you sleep well, you will feel well, healthy and fit through out the day.
So get going, here are the tips to sleep well and peacefully at night –
  • Stopping the noise: Your bedroom should be a no noise zone. Block out noise for getting a peaceful sleep at night. You may use ear plugs to block out noise to sleep well and peacefully at night.
  • Shut the laptop: People often carry their laptop to bed, this habit can get in the way of your much needed sleep. Draw the line and never ever carry the laptop to bed, because to get up fresh the next morning to start your day afresh, you need to sleep well andpeacefully to get up healthy and fresh for the next day ahead.
  • Remove TV from bedroom: Keep TV out of your bedroom. Loud and disturbing TV telecast could leave you feeling anxious and agitated, and you would hardly be able to get sound and peaceful sleep. So, shut off the tube and sleep well in peace.
  • Make your bed properly: Your mattress, pillows and linens, play a major role in giving you a peaceful sleep through the night. A hard and stiff mattress can do more harm than good ( despite what most people think ),causing back pain instead alleviating it, while an old and lumpy mattress may not support your back and neck. Instead of using synthetic pillows, use feather pillows, for synthetic pillows may hold five times as much dust mites thus aggravating asthma symptoms. As far as your bedding goes, use something soft and comfortable, and always wash your linen at least once a week. If you have a nice, cozy and comfortable bed you will definitely sleep well through the night.
  • Keep your pet away: Some people have a habit of taking their pet to their bed. Making your pet share your bed might not be a good idea at all. Sharing your bed with a pet can be disruptive and it may also irritate your partner as well and you might be sleeping in cramped quarters thereby disturbing your sleep and preventing you from sleeping well. It’s better to have a separate pillow and a pet bed for your pet.
  • Avoid a night lamp: Research has shown that in order to get peaceful sleep at night, one must keep the bedroom dark and should not use a night lamp. Light becomes a hindrance and a disturbing factor for you to sleep well, therefore to get a relaxed andpeaceful sleep, keep your bedroom dark and avoid using a night lamp.

Healthy Exercising and Dieting Tips

Its that time of the year to be in a bikini out in the sun. With a few healthy exercising and dieting tips you'll be looking amazing in no time. Just remember consistency is key here. In order for your plan of action to work you must follow through.
Make water your favorite drink! Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Stay away from all those soft drinks and carbonated beverages.
Don't stuff your self with food in a single setting. Eating several meals a day helps the body to release less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps to control hunger. Eat small healthy snacks in between meals. The goal is to not stuff your self during a meal. This causes you to feel overly tired and lazy.
Opt for protein for every meal. It helps reduce your appetite, takes more energy to digest and makes you feel full longer.
Don't eat out of boredom or depression! Go for a walk or do something physical instead. Downsize your dinner plate with fatty foods and fill it up with more veggies. If you are one to have dessert after dinner then change it up a bit. Instead of ice cream make a smoothie. Use fruits and nonfat yogurt with nonfat milk.
The other part of this article would be to exercise 3-4 times a week. Healthy exercising and dieting go together and without one the other doesn't work to its full effect. So go to the gym and look into getting a personal fitness trainer. Join some of the classes the gym has to offer as well. Make the most out of your experience and results will go your way!

Healthy Eating and Dieting - Ways to Maintaining a Healthy Weight

Healthy eating and dieting is one ideal way of maintaining a healthy weight. Although this might seem to be a little difficult nowadays because of the lure of some 'instant weight loss formula' and some diet pills that claim to have a quick fix on your weight problems. However, nothing can really beat the healthy way of losing weight.
It is important to note however, that healthy eating and dieting is not about getting very skinny, but maintaining that ideal weight which helps you stay away from health problems and be happy with life.
Here are some simple tips and ideas that can help you in your daily quest of healthy eating and dieting.
- A fish in your diet. Yes, indeed, fish should be an important part of your diet. Aside from being low in saturated fat, it is also low in calories. Fishes like Salmon, Tuna and Sardines are also rich in 'good fats' or omega 3, which helps not only in protecting the heart but in improving your metabolism and burning more calories.
- Do not eat more than what your body needs. It is indeed common sense not to stuff your body with more food than what you actually need, but it is also one reason why people are overweight. How do you know then if you are overeating? Your brain will send signals that you are already full and so you should stop eating, and one way to be aware of it is to eat slow. Not really too slow, but slow enough that you can chew your food properly, and you can listen to your body if you are already full.
- Water instead of soda. Instead of taking a can of soda after each meal, keep in mind to take water. Aside from being an important element in making our bodies function well, water is it also calorie-free and fat-free. If you are just starting out with healthy eating and dieting, you can start with cutting down on soda and drinking more water in your every meal.
- Add more 'calorie-burning foods' in your diet. There are indeed foods that may help you burn those calories, thus you may want to add these foods in your daily diet. Fruits rich in Vitamin C like citrus, lemon, grapefruit, apples and oranges contain less calories than what they burn, thus they help you in burning those extra calories you have taken in. Red pepper and other spices, as well as fishes like salmon and sardines are also among those foods that help you use up more calories.
- Add more fiber to your diet. Having about 20 grams of fiber each day is essential in having a healthy diet. Fibers are found in whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and they are of great help in controlling yourself not to overeat. Fibers help in making your stomach feel fuller, thus help you not to overeat. They are also good for maintaining a healthy colon as well as preventing common digestive problems like constipation. Moreover, these fruits and vegetables high in fiber are also low in calories and excellent sources of vitamins and minerals that nourish your body to help it function better.
Remember that healthy eating and dieting without exercise is not an effective way to maintain an ideal weight or even in weight loss. Exercise and increased physical activities should always complement your dieting to be able to attain an ideal weight as well as a healthy life.

HAIR CARE – HAIR LOSS PREVENTION AND HAIR GROWTH.

Regular hair care is very essential to prevent hair loss and to have a good and healthy hair growth. Healthy hair growth – yes who doesn’t want to have healthy hair! A person having healthy hair not only enhances his / her external look and beauty but also reflects his / her overall health and fitness. Hair forms a vital as well as one of the most significant part of our external beauty and any neglect to it may result in hair loss, hence it makes quite a sense to keep our hair healthy and well nourished to look good and therefore to maintain our hair one should treat it as just another part of our body and include it in our daily health and fitness care.
Hair grows in phases and each strand has a life cycle that can last from a few months to a few years. In other words all the hair does not fall out together, or grow together. When one strand ends its life cycle and falls off, a new strand replaces it. Replacement depends on factors like age, hormonal changes, internal reasons and its general condition. It also depends on the state of internal health and fitness of both body and mind as well as on external care.
Eat well to enhance hair growth:
To have healthy hair growth, the daily diet should include fresh salad, fruit, sprouts, leafy green vegetables, curd. If you are suffering from hair loss, ask your doctor to prescribe mineral and vitamin supplements. Along with a nutritious diet daily exercise, health and fitness care, relaxation, adequate sleep and a healthy lifestyle are required for a healthy hair growth. If there is a medical condition likes diabetes, ask your doctor before making changes to your diet.
Wash your hair right to prevent hair loss:

A question most people often ask – how often should hair be washed? Frequency of shampooing depends on hair type. Oily hair needs frequent shampooing. Three or four times a week for oily hair and twice a week for dry hair suits most people. The point here to be noted is washing does not harm hair but the quality of the product used does matter a lot to prevent hair loss. Always use a mild herbal shampoo and apply less, most non herbal shampoos contain detergent base which may be harmful to your hair and excessive use may cause hair loss. Rinse hair thoroughly with water.
Hair care – the smart way:
Proper hair care is the way to keep your hair healthy and enhance hair growth. After washing, wrap a towel around your head so that it soaks up moisture. Do not brush wet hair, because the elasticity of hair increases when wet and brushing can cause them to stretch and break. Use a wide toothed comb to brush your hair, start from ends and go upwards towards the scalp. Also avoid regular use of hair dryers.
Nourish and oil regularly to prevent hair loss:
Application of oil with a light massage helps to stimulate hair growth and blood circulation to hair follicles. It also helps in loosening dandruff flakes. Apply warm oil on the hair and scalp. Oils have their own particular properties and benefits. For example olive oil is helpful in dandruff and pure coconut oil is said to help hair growth.
Hot oil therapy is very useful, for dandruff, as well as damaged hair. Heat pure coconut oil or sesame seed oil or olive oil. Apply the oil on the scalp with cotton wool, rubbing gently to dislodge the flakes, then dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap around the head, like a turban, and keep it for five minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3 – 4 times. This helps hair and scalp absorb oil better. Leave oil on overnight, next morning apply lemon juice on the scalp and wash your hair after half an hour. Weekly henna treatment also keeps the scalp clean and healthy.
Damage control – last but not least:
The most common causes of hair damage are repeated coloring, straightening and perming.
Below mentioned points sum up the hair care in a gist -
·         Hot oil therapy helps.
·         If hair is dry use a creamy conditioner.
·         Hair should be treated very gently.
·         Avoid tying hair tightly with rubber bands.
·         Avoid using hair dryers and brushes.
·         Do the hot towel wrap after hot oil treatments.

Maintaining a Healthy Diet While Dining Out

The modern family of today is much different than a family of earlier times. It seems there isn't enough time in a day to get all of the scheduled activities that are planned let alone having time to cook dinner. So, probably more often than you want, you end up at a restaurant to speed up the process. The problem is, if you are concerned for maintaining a healthy diet, you may find it difficult to find healthy choices in many restaurants.
If this sounds familiar to you, it's okay. Just remember that it is not only about eating healthy but also making good choices in those times healthy nutritious food is not available. Start first by learning about nutrition and things your body needs to stay active and healthy. Then make the best choices you can from your available options. One mistake people typically make is their drink selection. You may think it is okay to enjoy a bottle of beer or a mixed beverage before or with dinner but in reality all you are doing is taking in empty calories that have no benefit to your body. The one exception to the rule when it comes to alcohol is wine, especially red wine, which may be okay if you have only one glass. It may even help prevent heart disease in some people.
The obvious part of the menu you should skip over is the appetizers. Unless you start with a small salad, appetizers are usually foods that are high in fat content and that can actually make you crave more high fat foods. If you just focus on your main course you should be able to easily resist the temptation. But if you just can't resist, you should at least try to get a single serving that everyone at the table can share.
Choosing your main dish is when you will test your knowledge of healthy food, and your ability to resist foods for their taste. You should make choices with your health as your main concern. Anything that has creamy sauces or meats that have a lot of fat should be passed over for healthier things such as non-breaded fish or a leaner cut of meat. And please skip side dishes like French fries, mashed potatoes and onion rings. Those can easily be replaced with a nice serving of vegetables or can be eliminated completely when vegetables are not available.
One thing that cannot be stressed enough is portion size. A good way to eat smaller portions is to order from the lunch menu. Lunch portions are typically much smaller than the dinner portions so the decision should be an easy one. Another way to ensure you eat smaller portions is to split your meal in two and ask for the other half to be packed in a doggie bag. This helps you in two ways. First you don't eat as much and second you have a nice meal you can enjoy for lunch or dinner the next day.
When you have finished your meal, you may be tempted to order desert. This may be especially true when you first start eating smaller portions, because you may feel you are still hungry. But just like you did with the appetizers, you need to skip the temptation or order one serving for everyone at the table to share. You may not realize this but many deserts have more calories than the entire meal you just ate. Special occasions, like birthday parties and such are times you can cheat a little when it comes to desert but for your overall health and well being, deserts should be avoided completely.
Knowing which foods are okay and which to avoid will help you make healthy choices when eating in a restaurant. It is ultimately your will power and commitment to healthy living that will help you make those choices so you will need to be on guard and not give in to temptation. Now go out and enjoy!

Best Foods For a Heart Healthy Diet

Did you know the best foods for a healthy heart are the very ones we've been told to avoid? Recent research shows us that we need to go back to the past to learn about healthy traditional cultures and their diets. Traditional cultures did not devise their diets in a lab but they did utilize the natural foods around them.
Today, we are surrounded by abundance in our supermarkets. But this abundance seems to be our undoing. Our ancestors expended huge amounts of energy obtaining their food. They traveled long distances, tracking wild and dangerous animals. They expended enormous physical energy in the actual hunting and killing of prey and more energy hauling the kill back to their families and tribes. And the hunt often failed, which meant starvation. The other members of the tribe, clan or family who did not hunt, expended their energy foraging and gathering wild greens, berries and other foods.
Over the last 40,000 years our DNA has not changed. Our bodies are still genetically linked to the past of living in caves, eating fats, protein and plants. Our bodies also still need to move, to use the energy from our food. It has only been in the last several decades that our bodies have been forced to work out how to process McDonald's Big Macs, Pizza Hut's Stuffed Crust Pizza and a Starbuck's Grande Mocha.
So what are the foods traditional cultures ate to keep their hearts health?
• Fats-Traditional cultures had 30%-80% fat in their daily diet. Animal fats included grassfed lard, tallow and butter. Olive oil and other cold-pressed oils, cream, cod liver oil and coconut oil were also used daily by various traditional cultures.
• Protein-All healthy cultures had some type of protein in their diet, even if it was reptiles or insects. Today we have access to grassfed meats like bison, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, goose and duck. Eggs were consumed when available also. Raw milk, butter and cheese from grassfed animals were also used as part of a daily diet.
• Organ Meats-Organs like the heart, liver, sweetbreads and others were prized for the super-nutrients that kept tribal cultures healthy. Beef heart is full of CoQ10, which is supplemented today for heart problems, gum disease and inflammation.
• Bone Broths-Broths made from boiling down the bones with raw apple cider vinegar or wine extracts calcium and other rich minerals into the broth. These cultures had about 4 times the amount of calcium and other minerals from their diet than we do today.
• Low-Carb Veggies and Fruits-Lots of greens were eaten and other vegetables and fruits when in season. When eaten with a fat, like butter, your body can assimilate the minerals and vitamins from plant matter better. Absorption is increased dramatically if the plant matter is cooked.
• Seeds, Nuts and Grains-Traditional cultures always soaked, fermented or sprouted seeds, nuts and grains because they have anti-nutrients and phytic acid that inhibit absorption of the nutrients. That's why we have more bowel intolerance problems to grain products today. To be able to access more of the available vitamins, soak grains overnight for porridge the next day.
• Sea salt, Seaweeds and Herbs-Our bodies needs salt. Our modern table salt is bleached and stripped of the trace minerals. Sea salt still has the trace minerals from the ocean that help our bodies utilize the salt. Seaweeds contain natural iodine which nourishes our thyroid. And gentle safe herbs like Hawthorn strengthen and nourish the heart and normalize blood pressure.
By following thousands of years of proven healthy diets we can improve our health today.
